KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Kerstin Andreae
The German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW)
“Energiepolitische Schwerpunkte. Worauf es jetzt ankommt”
Energy policy priorities. What matters now
Kerstin Andreae, Chairwoman of the General Executive Management Board and Member of the Board of Directors at BDEW (Bundesverband der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft). Born in Schramberg, Black Forest, Mrs. Andreae studied economics at Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg. Her career includes significant roles in project management and local governance, serving as a municipal councillor in Freiburg and as a member of the German Bundestag since 2002 with Bündnis 90/Die Grünen. An influential figure in economic policy, she has held various key positions within her party, including economic policy spokesperson and deputy chair of the parliamentary group. In November 2019, she became Chair of the Executive Board at BDEW, where she focuses on affordable, safe and clean supply in the energy and water sector.

Energy futures for Germany
“Robustness and resilience for the energy system of tomorrow”
Professor Andreas Löschel holds the Chair of Environmental/Resource Economics and Sustainability at Ruhr-Universität Bochum and is a researcher at RWI – Leibniz Institute for Economic Research. He was professor at the University of Münster and the University of Heidelberg. Since 2011, he has been Chairman of the Expert Commission for the Federal Government’s “Energy of the Future” monitoring process and, since 2024, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Academies’ Initiative “Energy Systems of the Future” (ESYS) of acatech – National Academy of Science and Engineering, the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the Union of the German Academies of Sciences and Humanities. Andreas Löschel was lead author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for the two last assessment reports. The F.A.Z. economist ranking has repeatedly ranked him among the 50 most influential economists in Germany. In 2022, Andreas Löschel was awarded the Joachim Herz Foundation’s German Economics Prize for outstanding economic research.
